The standard image compression uses the window Fourier transform for digital transfer of the data. We have developed wavelet compression of images which has better characteristics than the standard one. It allows higher compression at the same quality, and better quality at the same compression level. This advantage is evident from the Figures where the original image (left) is shown, and the standard (center) and wavelet (right) transformations are compared for output files, approximately of the same volume.
